The Hydrogen Herald is a unique online magazine covering all aspects of hydrogen energy and fuel cell mobility. Based in the United Kingdom but with a global outlook, the Herald will deliver news-in-brief articles, longer features and expert analysis when it launches in September 2018.

What is hydrogen, and why is it useful?

Hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe. In the right conditions, it can be used to store and move energy cheaply, safely and efficiently, potentially accelerating the decarbonisation of industry, electricity generation and transport.

A hydrogen fuel cell converts compressed hydrogen gas into electricity. The only emission from this reaction is clean, drinkable water, and a little bit of warmth. It’s easy to see the potential in this technology, and its development within ‘real world’ contexts – especially mobility applications – is becoming increasingly exciting.
